April 4, 2025 Update

Dear Friends,

Brazil 4 25We are back from an exciting trip to Brazil where I taught some forty hours in five different venues in three states in only three weeks. The topic was different in each venue: The ministry of the Holy Spirit in the Life of the Believer, Bible Study Methods, Spiritual Gifts, The Parables of Matthew 13, Six Sins Against the Holy Spirit. The reception of the teaching was very enthusiastic. Already we have been invited to return next year and some have expressed their desire for us to stay longer.

The trip was taxing because of my leg. While I am able to limp along without using a cane, standing to teach was a challenge. I tried sitting on a stool, but that wasn’t comfortable either. But we give thanks to God for His mercy and provision. I was able to endure the travel and the demands of teaching. All by grace.

Brazil Lipsi Plant

One of the churches where I taught was planted by the Lipsi family more than 60 years ago. Dominic and Margery Lipsi went to Brazil in the late 1940s. They were instrumental in establishing many ministries around the country. They not only planted churches which are still functioning, but they also built a Christian campground which is still operational today, evangelizing children and providing a venue for Bible conferences. Through their ministry, thousands of people have heard the gospel and many people have been saved. The children and grandchildren of this faithful couple continue to serve the Lord in Brazil. It has been my privilege to work with them for so many years.

We have a few weeks here in the US before we head off to Africa for a month of teaching in Zambia, and then a trip to visit our missionary friends, Tom and Cheryl Molinar, in South Africa.

We continue to pray for Ukraine. We had hoped that the conflict would be ended by this time, but, alas, not yet. Our house and church properties have not been touched by the war, and we know that this is only because of the grace of God. But our people are suffering and facing much hardship, which only grows worse as the fighting drags on. It is almost inconceivable to us, but thousands are being killed every single day in the combat. Please continue to pray.

Shortly after the war began, I heard about a device called the “Bible Stick.” It was a very small MP3 player, produced by an organization in Albuquerque named Faith Comes by Hearing. Through the generous contribution of a longtime friend in Albuquerque, we were able to obtain some of these Bible Sticks that had the Bible in the Ukrainian language, and we delivered them to a pastor in Kyiv for distribution to the troops. He in turn, distributed them to pastors who visited troops on the front line or who had men from their churches serving in combat situations.

I just received a letter today from a faithful pastor in western Ukraine. I am sure it will bless you even as it did me.Ukraine Soldiers MP3 Players

Greetings Mr. Myers. I am glad that you have recovered and are back on the mission field.

Probably two years ago, Oleg gave me several MP3 players with audio Bibles (the ones you left him). I gave these players (through a believing journalist from my church) to the special unit of the Lviv battalion. Later, this journalist interviewed the wife of one of the soldiers of this battalion, whose husband had died on the battlefield. She said that her husband and the other guys listened to the Bible every day. They also started praying together every day. Unfortunately, this unit no longer exists, it was disbanded because almost all of its fighters died. But at least some soldiers believed in the Lord Jesus Christ because of this MP3. Attached is a photo that the widow gave us, showing her husband and other boys praying together. ...

We give thanks to our heavenly Father for His abundant mercy and for the privilege that we have of serving Him. We also give thanks to each of you for helping us to do what we do.

All by grace,

Jim
